Community Health & Safety Fair

Invite your friends and family to this fabulous Community Family event hosted by Lockwood PTA!  Volunteers will support the planning, publicizing and production of the Annual Health & Safety Fair.

Holiday Helpers                      
Every year, there are families in our community that can not provide any kind of "Holiday" for their family without our help!  Volunteers will plan and coordinate the collection of new toys, food and clothing for Hopelink.

Legislation
 Advocates              
As members of a community and as Parents, we need to be aware of what is happening on a State and National level concerning the futures of our children!  The fabulous advocates will collect and distribute this legislative information at all PTA and PACE meetings.

Communication Committees
Duplication Team           
This is a vital PTA job and requires consistency from the team.  On a pre-arranged schedule, team members will pick up printing jobs on Monday mornings, take them to District Graphics Center
and make copies.  The copies will be returned to Lockwood by Tuesday morning at 11am to be routed in the Wednesday Envelopes.

Lockwood Lines Directory Team
                          
Where would we be without this handy dandy tool?  Help the team collect directory information, procure advertising from local businesses, proof read the mock-ups, and then assemble and distribute to our thankful school!

The Lockwood Weekly Managers               
This vital team will collect articles from PTA events and committees, edit for space, and then format and arrange layout of our weekly newsletter.

Membership
A Strong PTA Membership provides much needed funds on a local and National level and it provides our PTA with additional votes at the State Conference!  Volunteers will promote and encourage enrollment in our PTA and keep the online membership lists current.

Reader Board
Volunteers for this committee are vital to PTA communications!  Volunteers will establish a schedule and post notices on the Reader Board in a timely Manner.

Room Parent Coordinator
Room Parents are a lifeline for Staff and a wonderful resource for PTA!  As a Room Parent, you work closely with your classroom teacher to provide assistance for field trips, class parties, projects, and more!  Working as a team with the PTA, we can provide the resources and information to make you successful!

Website Managers
Our PTA website needs constant care and love.  Volunteers will share the responsibility of keeping the website up to date and current to be used as a resource for all things PTA for our Lockwood Families.

Ice Cream Social          
Welcome Lockwood Families back to school with this fun Family Event!  Volunteers will assist with all things ice cream!  Sprinkle and Scoop stations, Money Handlers and Greeters to name a few!

All-School Dance!
Strap on your dancing shoes and get ready to show your best moves!  Volunteers will help plan and execute this annual FANTASTIC Family Event!  Work closely with School Staff and PTA resources to host an event that is talked about all year long.

Dad's and Kids Bowling Nights!
New to PTA in 2009, Dads and Kids Bowling Night is an opportunity for fathers, uncles, grandparents, or any other adult male role model to connect with other fathers while having a blast bowling with your kids!

Skating Parties                                  
Lace up your skates and get ready for a night of Family Fun!  Held three times a year at the Lynnwood Bowl & Skate, this is an event not to be missed!

Talent Show               
Come out and support our Talented Lockwood Students!  Volunteers will assist in the preparation and organization of this yearly event.

Weeds & Seeds Lockwood Clean-Up Days!
Grab your gardening tools and come get dirty!  2x a year the PTA will host an all-school clean-up day.  The projects will vary, but the goal is to keep our school looking it's best!

5th Annual Auction

Join the fun and help Lockwood PTA raise funds to support our School!  There is a job for every talent from decorating to procurement!

Boxtops for Education
This fabulous program is easy to do and earns Cash for our school!  Clippers are needed in the fall and winter to help clip all of the boxtops before they can be redeemed.

Leopard Laps Fun Run!
Students and Volunteers will ask for Pledges based on laps or time run!  It is a FUN event and Volunteers are needed to plan the event, collaborate with School Staff and PTA, and produce a venue where everyone can be successful!

Staff Support Committees

Breakfast Program      
Volunteers in this program ensure that every child gets to eat a nutritious breakfast.  Spend 30 minutes, once a week or once a month, toasting bagels and serving breakfast prepared by the kitchen staff.

Classroom Art Docent                       
      
This enrichment program enhances every classroom at Lockwood.  Docent's present a pre-made lesson and artwork in your child's classroom once a month. Art experience is not necessary, but you must be comfortable presenting material to a large group.  An Art Docent Training is available every fall from the District.

Emergency Preparedness
The team will collaborate with the Northshore School District
, Lockwood PTA and Principal/Office staff to ensure that we are prepared in case of an emergency.  Volunteers will also work to keep Lockwood's emergency supplies/info up to date.

Health Screenings                
This event requires more volunteers than any other event.  Volunteers will assist the School Nurse with student vision, hearing and scoliosis screenings.  (Tuesday, October 6th 2009)

Kindergarten LOVE Crew 
We all remember what it felt like to be brand new to Lockwood and we want to show our Kindergarten Families some LOVE!  This team will host a playdate, ride the bus for the first few days of school and introduce the new families to the Ice Cream Social.

Library Volunteers
Library volunteers are vital to the future of the school library.  Because of you, Mr Hehn has the ability to spend time teaching our kids while you support the library by checking student materials in and out, restocking materials, and providing additional support.

Morning Traffic Safety 
Say Good Morning to friends and welcome students to a new day at school!  Volunteers help the flow of cars and kids during the morning drop-off from 8:45-9:10am.  Volunteers can say Hello once a week, bi-weekly, or even once a month!

Volunteers are asked to provide an email address and once a month the Lunch Theme will be sent to you and you can choose to participate or wait until next month!  Lockwood Staff love this event and every month is a new theme!

WASL Snacks          
As Parents, we understand the time and energy involved in such a big test is draining, so Volunteers will collaborate with Classroom Teachers and PTA resources to provide fun and healthy snacks for the weeks of WASL testing.

Student Enrichment Committees

Kidsitters/Child Care Coordinator(s)
This is a perfect position for any 5th-6th grade parent that is looking to spend some time with your child and his/her friends!  The "Kidsitters" class needs to be arranged through the Hospital and childcare volunteers need to be coordinated for all PTA Meetings.

Literacy Docents
In light of recent budget cuts, the PTA in collaboration with Lockwood Staff, are creating a Literacy Docent Program to support the Computer Lab Reading Programs as well as testing support and outreach.  Volunteers need to commit to 1-3 hours per week supporting students in the Computer Lab.  Training will be made available and it is a great opportunity to get to know other families in our school!

Reflections
                             
This National Creative Arts Program is an enrichment piece our school is lucky to have!  Volunteers will help publicize the theme, organize workshops for students and transport entries on to the district level.

Yearbook
Are you great with a camera and attend a lot of Lockwood Events?  Then you are a perfect Volunteer for Yearbook!  Volunteers will document school events, procure pictures from the Room Parents, help with the design and layout of the yearbook, as well as the sale and distribution to Lockwood Families.
